Intravitreal injections

Intravitreal injections

Intravitreal injections are given to recover and prevent further loss of vision caused by eye conditions such as Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD), Diabetic Maculopathy and Vein Occlusion.  A special drug can be injected through the white part of the eye into the gel (Vitreous) that fills the inside of the eye and gradually be absorbed by the back of the eye (retina).

Two types of drugs can be injected:

AntiVEGF

Anti-vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (AntiVEGF) are indicated for the treatment of wet AMD, Diabetic Maculopathy and Vein Occlusion.

Steriods

Steroids injections are also indicated for Diabetic Maculopathy and Vein Occlusion.
