Background…
After qualifying in Italy, Mr. Inzerillo moved to England in 2005, where he gained extensive experience working in London. He became a leading expert in macular degeneration (AMD) and other retinal diseases, as well as a highly skilled cataract surgeon.
In 2015, he was appointed as a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at University Hospital Southampton (UHS) and Lymington New Forest Hospital, with a specialist interest in medical retina and cataract surgery. He serves as the Lead for the Intravitreal Injection Service for macular diseases including Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD), Diabetic Retinopathy and Retinal Vein Occlusion.
Additionally, he holds the role of Clinical Governance Lead for Ophthalmology at the Eye Unit, ensuring high standards of patient safety and care.
Mr Inzerillo offers personalized treatment plans that may include Intravitreal Injections, Argon laser therapy, or Photo-Dynamic Therapy (PDT), depending on the most appropriate approach for each patient.
Mr. Inzerillo is pleased to announce that Visudyne for PDT laser treatment is now available again after a years of worldwide shortage. Patients requiring PDT for Central Serous Retinopathy (CSR) can now book a day appointment through his secretary.
As a highly experienced Cataract surgeon, Mr. Inzerillo has extensive expertise in multifocal lens implants, helping patients achieve excellent vision with greater independence from glasses.
He also offers YAG Laser treatment for Posterior Capsular Opacities (PCO) also known as secondary cataract as well as Peripheral Iridotomies for Glaucoma.
He provides private consultations and surgery at Spire Southampton Hospital, while continuing to operate within the NHS at Eye Unit Southampton and Lymington New Forest Hospital (UHS). He is also a dedicated Cataract surgery trainer for junior doctors, contributing to the development of future ophthalmologists.
Beyond his expertise in medical retina and cataract surgery, Mr. Inzerillo is an experienced general ophthalmologist, treating conditions such as glaucoma, dry and watery eyes, eye floaters, lid cysts.
His commitment to patient safety and quality of care led him to take on the role of Governance Lead at UHS.
Mr. Inzerillo is also deeply involved in charity missions abroad, working on projects in Africa, Central, and South America to improve eye care in underserved communities.
