Glaucoma

Glaucoma is an eye condition where high intraocular pressure cause damage to the optic nerve and as a result progressive and irreversible loss of the Visual Field. Essentially the patient start losing peripheral vision and if not treated could lead to complete blindness. Screening plays a key role especially when one or more members of the family are affected, as the patient is completely asymptomatic at the early stages of the disease and become aware of the peripheral vision loss only at the very advanced stages when this is not so peripheral anymore but much closer to the central vision.

Treatments:  Eye drops, laser, surgery.

External eye disease

External eye diseases refer to conditions that affect the ocular surface of the eye.  These can include things like dry / watery eye, conjunctivitis, allergies and corneal infections, lids lumps and bumps .

Treatments: Treatments vary depending on the condition.

Eyelid cyst surgery

Eyelid cysts are commonly known as a Chalazion (Chalazia for multiple) which are small lumps or swellings on the eyelid which are cause by blocked glands.  They often go away and come back. 

Treatments: Hot compress,  Eye drops and/or creams, Surgery
